TENDERS will be received at the Public Woiks office, Auckland, until noon on Fiiday, 6 h March next, for the supply ami delivery at Mercer or Meremere and Rangiriri of I ',ooo Riihvay Sleepeis for the Waikato Extension Railway. The tenders must be addressed to the Resident Engineer, and marked " Tender for Sleepers." Specifications, general conditions, ami form of tender may now bo seen at the Public Works offices, at Newcastle and Auckland. TERMS OF PAYMENT.
One-fourth of the purchase money in cash onthe fall of the hammer j the remainder nt or before the evpirution oi three calendar months from the day of cale, to be paid at the office of the Officer in Charge of Confiscated Lands, Putea. By clause 18 of the Confiscated Land Regulations, in the event of the second payment not being v.ado us afoie*aid, the sale will be void and the deposit forleited.
The Rural Sections in the Patea District include portion of the Railway R'serre, which U a strip of country situated in the heart of tlio »ettlotnent, extending from Paten to Waingongoro aud Kotemaro. The reserve is tiaversed by an excellent metalled road, and bridge* have been erected, or aro in course of construction, where necessary, on the whole line from Wanganui to New Plymouth. The surveyed line of railway rum parallel with and in some places turuugh the reserve. . The settlement of the dUtriot has pro*re»sed rapidly during the hut few months, and the lections now onerod comprise nearly all available lands at the disposal of Government betwee.l the*dgeof the bush and the sea coast. A few bu«h section* are also offered for •*!«, affording an opportunity to settlers in the open lands to obtain tiutbei lor fencing snd other purposes.
