THE AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.
CALL TO THE TJEV. T. STEWAHT. The' clerk read a letter from Mr John Gilmout, •ecietary to the Prenbyremo Committee at Cummandel, forwarding a formal call to the Key Thomas Stewart from the Ooromandel Presbyterian Congregation. They offered him £200 per annum and a manse. The call was signed by 27 persmis, 9 members, and 17 adherents.— Mr Steveu.aon considered it would be informal to consider the call at present, seeing that the church had not been preached • vacant.— The Rev Mr Bruce explained that ecclesiMtically. 1 when bho JPle&bytery leaulved that the pastoral tie between a minister and his congregation shall be dissolved, from that, time a vacancy c listed, and the clergynuu was free, and the matter of supplying tue pulpit until another one ww appointed, was merely a matter of arrangement with the Presbytery. — Mr Gilmore. a deputy from tb.6 Coro« mandel congregation, w-s be^i-d in respect to the call. A oleetintc, at- which the call was prepared .md signed, was summoned on * Sunday, and the object of the meeting stated.— On the motion of Mr Peacocke, the Coromandel change was declared to be vacant.— On the irotion of Mr Stevenson,' seconded by Afr Bruce, it was resolved, " That the call is a- proper call, and that it be sustained m regular.!' — On the im>tion of Mr StAwart, aecond,ed by Mr- Peacocke, it was rcolvo-l to place the call in IWr S^ewart's hands' — Tlie Moderator then placed the call in Mr Sfcewnrt'B bvnd? bii'3 asked him for his news upon it. — Mr Stewart replied that liis present charge in the Wuitato was a Jarge distriph. and he imd not Jtiength enou r ;h to discharge the duties of jt. He felt that another winter in (be Wuikato district »vould seriously impair his constitution. He had much pleasure in accepting the call from the people of Corormindi»l.
