CENTRAL WAIKATO ASSOCIA TION.
CW Saturday last a meeting of thp member* of the Central Waikato Association was ho'J nt IV Avrnniiitii Te V.cc President of the Association, Mr Hender»on, tok tlie chair. Tin! Swrelary repotted to the meeting th&t he h&d waned no reply from any ol the offic! i!s of the Waikato Asocial ion to Ihe letter writ ten in reference to lioli:rjn c. Central Sliow at OJiaupo. Tie members pi e«ont ox pressed their stromr sense of, the di->coutU-ous treatment they had received at the hands of the officers of the Waikato A»soci ation, and passed the following resolution : — "That the annual show be held at Ti> Anumutu, and that the Committee solicit subscriptions fioin all hkoly ami unhkt'ly person*, and report the recult of their canvass to a meeting to be railed for the 7tli February, to arrange a programme and ether details." On account ol the difficulty in mustering a number of settlers, other matters were brought under discii--<ion. A copy of a proposed petition re railway was submitted, and its purport discussed. The petition was to, the effect, that in the opinion of the subscribers, the proper route for the railway to proceed »onthward3 after it completion to Ngaruauahis, is through the £>elta. It pointed out that it would be uselen to < ake a railwtj alpng.the banks of a river navigable *t all seasons, whereas if it<were constructed through the centre of the Delta it would open for agriculture a large tract of country. Allubion was made by some of those present to a report which appeared m our columns concerning the number and location of the sheep in the district. The report appeared with the compiler* name j at thi foot of 4, and on him must rest the responsibility if any misstfltenient. The present postal arrangement* came in tor ita share of attention, and yery justly so. The stoppage of the mail via Whata What* hu» left the most populous districts in the Waikato with only two maila weekly ; the cost of the service was not great and the inconyenience and" loss to the settiers is considerable. Ouo of the. banks being at Ngaruawahia, there is necessarily a great deal of correspondence of an urgent character. We trust thas the postmaster will immediately take steps to re-or<>anise the service.
