Ok "Boxixg-pay the usual annual' sports took place at Hamilton, but owing to the counter attractions at the' adjacent townships, and the excursion by sto.imor, the attendance of thr> adult portion of the neighbourhood was not so largo as on pi evious j c.irs ; however, there was n fair muster, and ths prizes v\eie keenly contested for, several of the competitors showing (although amateurs) the bone a^id mnscle'compo*in'l; our future representatives. The itewards were :—: — Ma r. 31. Vialon, Ju'lge ; and Messrs. Morris Martin, Danv?ra, and Cunming. Mr John Knox Acted as Treasurer and Secretary. I?or the flut race there w'oi'e M? entries. First prize, £1, was taken by -Mr Cox; second prize, 10?, Kumoni (native). Therrunning of Mr Coaf in this race was excellent.Boys' race, under ten -yeitfs- — Ton entries — First prize, Martin, 10s ; se6ond prize, Heed, 51. Boys' ruci*- under IG* years. — Twelve entries. — Winner, .Aihlitws ; En in, 2nd. Men's Three-lejged laco. — Six entries. — Ist Prize, Pilling Brothers ; 2nd prize, Kamoni and Paul,- (natives.) Putting the Stone, 28lba. — Five entries, — Mclufcyre, Ist,' 20fr 3in ;W. PUhng, 2nd, 19ft Sin. , .
