CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor of the Waikato Trsc bs.) As tlie propo»er of Mr Mabin, I feel called upon to etplain the reason for lus absence on the day of nomination. Sume ono of tlie candidates wished to make capital out of the non-attendance of two of the candidates. Mr Mabin had been spoken of as a candidate through jour columns, before the rumour that Mr Kay was coming oat reached us. Wh^n this gentleman was expected to come forward, it was decided not to nominate Mr Mabm, aa it was considered most desirable that both Mids of the district should be represented. It was only on the day of nomination, when one' candidate -was substituted for Mr Kay, and another substituted him* self, that it was thought desirable, for the credit of the dn-j tnct, to bring forward Mr Mabin, since he had placed himself in our hands to act as was thought beat ; from this it 1a evident that it was impossible for Mr Mabin, (resident in Auckland), to bo present at the nomination.— l am, &c , T. Y. FITKPATBICX.
