TURF CLUB MEETING.
A meeting of those interested in the formation of a Turf Club for the Waikato, in place of the old one was held on Saturday afternoon at the Hamilton Hotel, Lieut.-Col. Ljon in the chair. It was proposed bj Mr Byron and seconded by Mr llunciman, "That a Club be formed, to be called the Waikato Turf Club."— Carried. Proposed by Mr Hammond and seconded by Mr Carpenter, " That an annual subscription of £2 2s shall entitle tho subscriber to membership." — Carried. Proposed by Mr Hammond and seconded by Mr Farrell, "That the rules of the Victoria Jockey Club be adopted.'" — Carried. Proposed by Mr Byron and seconded by Mr Runciman, "That a Provisional Committee of ten be elected to procure members and to report to a general meeting to be held on Thursday, the 6th November, at the Hamilton Hotel, at 4 o'clock."— Carried. About 20 gentlemen have already signified their intention of becoming members. The following were elected a Provisional Committee :— For .Alexandra— Messrs J. D. Hill and Chitty ; for Te Awamutu — Messrs Kay and Wctherall ; for Cambridge — Messrs Kirkwood and ltunciinan ; for Nsaruawahia — Messrs Byron and Carpenter; j'or Hamilton — Messrs Hammond and Farrell.
