The committee appointed to report on the question of improving the harbour have issued a preliminary report. It is th<. lr opinion that the w ork is desirable, and that it can easily be effected so that all manner of ships may come right up to Dunedin from the Heads ; and that such pressure should be brought to bear on the Government to induce them to carry out the plans proposed.
