In the Legislature Council, to-day, in reply to an obserration of Mr Fharazyn, during the diicusiion on the Immigration and Public Works Loan Bill in Committee, Dr Pollen said he had nerer beard from Mr Vogel anything of liii intention to go home during the recess. Tuesday. In the Legislative Council, to-day, Mr Sewrll moved an additional clause to the Railways Hill, that no railways be constructed by the Government unless plans and specifications br first laid before Parliament. — Dr Pollen opposed the clause. — The amendment was negatived on a division by a majority of 15 to 4. — Mr Waterhouse moved a new clause "That no new works be undertaken by the Government when the works could not be constructed for the sums already authorised unless proper plans and specifications were laid before Parliament showing the cost." The amendment was carried on a division of 14 to 8. The Bill passed through the committee without further amendment, all the works in the sohedule being agreed to. The General Purposes Loan Bill, and Immigrants Land Bill were read a second time.
