(From the Daily Southern Cboss.) Tauranga, Thursday. The ion of Mr Green, a settler, was killed yesterday in the bush by a fulling log. At tho inquest to-day a Tcrdict of accidental death was relumed. Thirty-six chiefs signed n memorial to the Native Minister praying for the appointment of Mr Mackay as a Civil Commissioner.
Wellington, Thursday. The supplementary estimates will contain a sum for farther hghthousea. Captains Johnston and Edwin made exhaustire report! on lighthouses. Ten thousand shares in the National Insurance Company have been applied for. The drapers early cloiing morement lapsed.
Dunedin, Thursday. Mr Seaton, lato Emigration Agent, armed by the Peter Denny. A sudden death occurred yesterday. Mr John Reid, in the employ of Messrs Beid and Gray, died just as he was starting to work. Tbo jury returned a verdict of heart duease.
