Tho Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of the Waikato Settlers on^thc subject, and bai c been promised an almost unanimous support. As the name of the Company implies, il is the intention to make it principally a settlers' undertaking, aad with that view, the Company is to be formed in £1 shares, so that all residents may be üble to join, thereby securing to thp Company tho whole of the river traffic, aud consequently, to themselves a remunerative investment. It is proposed to build a powerful steamer suitable for tbo requirements of the river, at an estimated cost of £500t ; also teveral barges and Goods' Depots. Arrangements have been made for a supply of Coal at Ralph's Mine, at the rale of 10s. per ton, for a term of years. The Waikato Flax Company are willing to run their steamer, now being built, m connection with the Company, or if desirable, amalgamate tho barne with it. The Office of the Company js to bo in Auckland, with a Manager in Waikafco, under the direction of a Local Committee. The Provisional Directors to hold office for Six Months from date, when a General Meeting of Shareholders will bo called to elect a Dn-ectory.
