THE object of tho Company is to provide regular and speedy Steam Communication on tho Waikato River; to supply a want so long and uniyersally felt^in tho District. The Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of the Waikato Settlors on^tho subject, and have been promised an almost unanimous support. As the name of tho Company implies, it is the intention to make it principally a settlers' undertaking, and with that view, the Company is to bo formed in £1 shares, so that all residents may be able to join, theroby securing to the Company the whole of the river traffic, and consequently, to themselves a remunerative investment. The Directors anticipate that the Shares will bo fully subscribed for, and operations.commenced within six months, and that^not more than 10s. per share^will be called np, satisfactory banking arrangements having been made. It is proposed to build a powerful steamur suitable for tho requirements of the river, at an estimated cost of £300 L ; also several barges and Goods' Depots. Arrangements ha\e been made for a supply of Coal at Ralph's Mine, at the rate of 10s. per ton, for a terra of years. Tho Waikato Flax Company are ■willing to run their steamer, now being built, m connection with the Company, or if desirable, amalgamate the same with it. The Olßce of the Company is to be in Auckland, with a Manager in Waikato, under the direction of a Local Committee. The Provisional Directors to hold office for Six Months from date, when a General Meeting of Shareholders will be called to elect a Directory.
