THE object of the Company is to 'provide regular and speedy Steam Communication on the Waikato River; 1 to supjriy a want so long and unirersally felt^in tho District. The Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of the Waikato Settlers on.the subject, and have been promised an almost unanimous support. As the name of the Company implies, it is tho intention to make it principally a settlers' undertaking, aid with that view, the Company is to be formed in £1 shares, so that all residents may be able to join, thereby securiug to the Company tho whole of the river traffic, and consequently, to themselves a remunerative investment. The Directors anticijiate that the Shares will be fully subscribed for, and operations.commenced within six months, and that not more than 10e. per share^will be called up, satisfactory baukiug arrangements having been made. It is proposed to build a powerful steamer suitable for tbo requirements of the river, at an estimated cost of £500t ; also teveral barges and Goods' Dep6ts. Arrangements have been made for a supply of Coal at Ralph's Mine, nt the rate of 10s. per ton, for a term of years. Tho Waikato Flax Company are willing to run their steamer, now being built, in connection with tho Company, or if desirable, amalgamate tho same with it. Tho Office of tho Company is to be in Auckland, with a Manager in Waikato, under the direction of a Local Committee. The Provisional Directors to hold office for Six Months from date, when a General Meeting of Shareholders will bo called to elect a Directory.
