Tlie Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of the Waikato Settlers on'the subject, and have been promised an almost unanimous support. As tho name of tho Company implies, it is the intention to niako it principally a settlers' undertaking, and with that view, tho Company is to bo formed in £1 shares, so that all residents may be able to join, thereby securing to tho Company the whole of tho river traffic, and consequently, to themselves a remunerative investment. The Directors anticipate that the Sharcß will be fully subscribed for, and oporationi]commeneed within six months, and that ..not more than lOsrper share" will bo called up, satisfactory banking arrangements having been made. It is proposed to build a powerful steamer suitablo for the requirements of tho river, at an estimated cost of £5001 ; also eeveral barges and Goods' Dep6ts. Arrangements . havo been made for a supply of Coal at Ralph's Mine, at tho rate of 10s. per ton, for a term of years. The Waikato Flax Company aro willing to run their steamer, now^being built, in connection with tho Company, or if desirable, amalgamate tho same with it. Tho Office of tho Company is to bo in Auckland, with a Manager in Waikato, under tho direction of a Local Committee. Tho Provisional Directors to hold office for Six Months from date, when a General Meeting of Shareholders will bo called to elect a Directory.
