Tho Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of the Waikato Settlers oirtho subject, aud have been promised an almost unanimous support. As the name of tho Company implies, it is tho intention to make it principally a settlers' undertaking, aad with that viow, the Company is to be formed in £1 shares, so that all residents may be able to join, thereby securing to tho Company the whole of the river traffic, and consequently, to themselves a remunerative investment. Tho Directors anticipate that the Shares will be fully subscribed for, und operations 4 commeuced within six. months, aud that^not more than 10s. per sharo^wdl be called up, satisfactory banking arrangements having been made. It is proposed to budd u powerful atcumcr suitable for tho requirements of the river, at an estimated cost of £500(. ; also teveral barges and Goods' Depots. Arrangements have been made for a supply of Coal at Ralph's Mine, at the rate of 10s. per ton, for a torm of \ears. The Waikato Flax Company are willing to run their steamer, now. being built, m connection with tho Company, or if desirable, amalgamate tho buiuo with it. Tho Office of the Company is to be m Auckland, with a Manager in Waikato, under the direction of a Locul Committee. The Provisional Directors to hold office for Six Mouths from date, when a GiU^ral Meeting of Shareholders will bo called to elect a Directory.
