THE "object of the Company is to .provide regular and speedy Steam Communication on tho Waikato River? to supply^a.want to long and universally felt^in^tho District. The Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of the Waikato Settlers onjthe subject, and have been promised on almost unanimous support. As the name of the Company implies, it is the intention to make it principally a settler's undertaking, and with that view, the Company is to be formed in £1 shares, so that all. residents may be able to join, thereby securing to the Company tho whole of ,the river traffic, aud consequently, to themselves a remunerative investment. The Directors anticipate that the Shares will be fully subscribed for, and oporations.commenced within six months and that^not more than 10s. per Bhuro.will be called up satisfactory banking arrangements having been made. It is proposed to build a powerful steamer suitable for ho requirements of the river, at an estimated cost of £5001 ; also several barges and Goods' Depots. Arrangements have been made for a supply of Coal at Rali-h's Mine, at the rate of 10s. per ton, for a term of years. The Waikato Flax Company are willing to run their steamer, now ..being built, in connection with the Company, or if desirable, amalgamate the same with it. Tho Olilce of the Company is to bo in Auckland, with a Manager in Waikato, under the direction of a Local Committee.
