Tauranga, Friday. The ■•». Southern Crow arrived at 4 o'clock yesterday evening. The cutter Vincent has Bailed for Auckland. The Collector of Customs is here arranging the port of The Waterlily is off the rocks. She has reached the Mount. Temporary repairs will be sufficient to take her to Auckland.
Saturday. Hoani te "Kautalii has been sentenced to one month's imprisonment for larceny. He was also committed for stealing money from his companion. The Southern Cross sails to-night with six Constabulary and one prisoner.
Sunday. The Government have declared Tauranga a port of entry for three weeks. The first coach from Tavpo it to arrive on Friday. Wellington, Saturday. Armed: Wellington from Taranaki; Tiranaki from Picton. She had to run hack twice for shelter, and 1 was compelled to anchor 22 hours on the voyage from Picton. The Paterson is weather-bound at Bowden's Bay. His Excellency the Governor attended My Hoskins and Miss Colville's benefit last night. The Carandinis have arrived, and appear on Monday. Mr Henry Leslie has been appointed clerk of the Kesident Magistrate's Court at Taupo. Mr William Thomas Mason has aUo been appointed to the same office at Opotiki. Lyttelton, Sunday. The barque Edwin Fox arrived from London on Friday. She has been placed in quarantine, there being three coses of fever, and four deaths having occurred. There are 140 immigrants on board. Dr Donald has been appointed K.M. for Akaroa in place of Mr Pillett.
Aktroft, Saturday. The Flirt is wind-bound here. - • Christclmrch, Saturday. Mrs Herbert, Mrs Hill, and Dr Parker were brought before the Resident Magistrate, charged with manslaughter. Mr Stifle, counsel lor the defence, contended that tho prisoners could not be brought before the Court except under habeas corpus. The Magistrate adjourned the Court for tho attendance of the Crown prosecutor, who, when consulted, said that the Coroner's warrant might be informal and lead to the prisoners' acquittal. The Magistrato ultimately refused to deal with the prisoners, but siiid that it was open lo the Crown prosecutor to brine; the matter before thf Supreme Court, and obtain u writ of habeas cor? %t. The prisoners were bailed out. Wiltshire, the pedestrian, offers to walk a thousand miles in one thousand hours, wheeling a man at the same time in a. wheelbarrow. Dunedin, Saturday. Rolt and Moore are committed for trial for personation. George Colder/ on the same charge, was remanded. A ball has been given to Mr Macaudrew. Port Chalmers, Sunday. The ship Yorkshire, eight days from Melbourne, bound toDomlon. has been towed in with her rudder damaged. 170 passengers on board.
