Mr Cuthbertson, a candidate for the vacant scat hi the Assembly, addressed a large meeting of electors last night. He declared himself entirely with Mr Yogel's party, as, while admitting its many failures, he did not think a better Go> eminent could be got from the other side of tho House. A motion of confidence in him was passed w ithout opposition. Duuedin, Thursday. Tho debute on Mr Reids amendment was resumed this afternoon. Mr- Webster moved as an amendment that the Council has confidence in the Government, but requested it to resign. Mr Tolune pressed for an adjournment, which was refused. The will press the matter to a division. On the Council resuming this evening, Mr Tolmio intimated that, acting 011 the ndnce of their supporters, tho Government would resign. The debate was going on. The brig Moa is a3boro at Allday Bay. Tho Wasto Land Board, by u majority of one, refused to sell Maerewhenua Block.
