A special session of tho Provincial Council was opened this afternoon « ith the usual formalities. The Superintendent, in In -]iccch, stated that the citimatcd receipts from the Male of wisn« Kind-;, for tho year ending September 30, 1873, was £130,000, but that the first seven months of tho year which haw> elapsed, they have readied an amount of a hundred thousand in excess of the amount estimated for tho whole year. lie reminded the Council that tho appropriation last session were more than a hundred thousand in excess of estimated receipts, but he has no reason to expect the land sales to fall oft' during the next five months, lie asked permission to make further appropriation to meet the largely increased demand for land ready of access, nnd suitable for agricultural settlement. Drury, formerly clerk to Roberts, filed an affidavit accusing Roberts of tuning said he had lent money to Edwards, the Resident Magistrate, who was under hit (burnt). Napier, Saturday. Messrs Cable and Drummond, of Otago, have- bought Messrs Watt Brothers' run at Wairoa for £10,000. The Provincial Government are preparing a bill proposing to reclaim tho Xapicr swamp at £70,000.
