CRICKET MATCH.

The cricket match between eleven of the ArmciVConstabulary anrl eleven Wai pa settlers, was played at Alexandra on Salnrdoar, the Bth inst. Tho wickets were to -have beon pitched at 10 30 a.m., but owing to the non-.-appearance-of some of the settlers' team, some dalay took place before tho game could be proceeded' with. After some trouble, the challengers (the Waipa settleis) succeeded in picking up two tillers of the soilj who did not profess te be cricketers, and two boys, thus augmenting their team to ten, and' aa one A.C. man had failed to put in an appearance, the game started with ten players on each side. The following are the scores :—: —

After tho game was concluded, Mr Sub-In-spector Newall, on beh ilf of the loosing side, presented a bat to the highest sooren on.the winning side, Mr Philip Bond, according to the terms on which the match was played.
