Correspondence.

♦ We do not necessarily endorse the opinions expressed by our correspondents.] ( To the Editor of the Waikato Times.) SiR, —It appears that the Government are about to remove Andrew Barton, Clerk to the Resident Magistrate's Court, to Wellington. This appears to me to be a great mistake. There are a great number of natives scattered about this part of the Waipa intermixed with the European settlers. Andrew Barton has great inJiuence with these natives, and it is principally owing to his exertions and influence that endless quarrels and disputes have not arisen. He speaks and writes English well and is most useful iu keeping the natives in order ami acting as a means of communication between them and the settlers- If'the Government remove him it will be much against the wishes of both Europeans and natives, and.l am afraid tne present good feeling between them will not continue. —\ our obedient servant, Thomas Wilson. Te Koao, Ilth July, 1872.
