The ways of Governments are mysterious. About the end of last year the chairmen of the various Road Boards received notice from t ie Provincial Treasurer, intimating- that half r ! e money allotted for Provincial Public ■Vorks by the General Government was then livable, and that the other half would proi'.ibly bo payable about the end of June this r-ir. The following notice has just been reived by the Chairmen of the Boards, ncd by Mr. Lusk, the Provincial Sec;:iry : —"The Government are advised that i • whole amount of the money allotted to Boards should be drawn fiom the Pro»ral Treasurer prior, to the Ist July.
