W.C.T.U.
FIRST MEETING FOR YEAR. The first meeting of the W.C.T.U. for this year was held on Thursday afternoon, when there was a good attendance of members and friends from Waipawa. The president, Mrs Smales, presided. It was decided that Mrs Smales be appointed delegate to attend the annual Dominion Convention to be held in March at Auckland. Various members present 7 " expressed their willingness to assist in a shop, which it was decided to hold on Tuesday, March Ist, at which'home made cakes, jams, etc. will be on sale. Miss Burdett was appointed treasurer of the shop committee and Miss Aoa Smales is to be in charge of the Band of Hope bran tub. It is hoped that all who have any interest in the work of the WC.T.U. will help by donations for the stalls, etc. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Bibby, a J visitor, from Waipawa, for a very interesting address cn Fran-., cis Willard, the founder of the Wo- . men’s Christian Temperance Union, it ..being the anniversary of her death. - Afternoon tea was handed round and the meeting closed with the benediction. -
