At Ingham alone the death roll increased to 24 and it is feared that •when complete reports are received from other districts the number will be greatly increased. Special police have been sent to all stricken areas to assist in the burial of bodies as they are .recovered. The first news has been received from Stone River, which is one of the principle cane-growing districts. Herbert River reports enormous damage, but no loss of life.
