In a case heard at Dunedin against F. J. Sullivan, charged with being in possession of hares during the close season, the Magistrate over-ruled the contention of the defence that hares coming from Maniatoto could not be regarded as imported game. He convicted the defendant, and ordered him to pay the costs of the prosecution (£2 19s).

William John Wilkins, aged 68, manager of the Hastings gasworks, while at work on Tuesday, complained of faintness. He was taken home, but expired within half an hour. Wilkins had been an employee of the Napier Gas Company for twenty-one years. He has left a widow, seven sons, and two danghters.
