TAVISTOOCK HOTEL.
The Tavistock Hotel, which was destroyed by fire about a year ago, has, Phoenix like, risen from its ashes—at least a new and more modern building occupies the site of the old structure. Mr McLeod, the new licensee, has not lost any time in getting the building furnished ready for the accommodation of the travelling public, and though a few orders have not yet -been filled, every room is ready for occupation, in fact there has been such an influx of visitors once or twice that the house has been full already. There are many evidences of the intention to cater for the travelling public. The dining room is a splendid bright apartment, and great taste has been displayed in furnishing it. There are seven square tables in it, each capable of accommodating, with comfort,
six diners. The ceiling of the room is panelled, and the wallpaper is a pretty blue. As in all the rooms on the ground floor, there is a linoleum dado. The commerial-room is a spacious apartment and has been comfortably furnished. The club-room is a convenience which will no doubt be in constant demand. It is a fine large room, capable of accommodating a good number of
people, and is suitably furnished with tables, writing desks, etc. There is a daintily-furnished little sitting-room upstairs which will doubtless be greatly appreciated by lady visitors. The bedrooms are all good sized rooms, are comfortably furnished, and are all fitted with ventilators, so that there is no necessity to depend on the windows for fresh air. The bathroom is fitted with a porcelain enamel bath and lavatory basin, and hot and cold water is laid on. A. convenient feature of the building is a luggage-room, the provision of which will save the bed-rooms being crowded with boxes, etc. The kitchen is a large, well-fitted-up room, and the chef declares the great Atlas range to be a beauty. The contractor for the building was Mr W. A. Chambers, Mr T. Slatford did the painting and plumbing, and Messrs Lowe and Sons the bricklaying.] .-.i-dsrU
