The Hinemoa is to visit the Snares, the Traps, Solander and other islands in search of the Union Company’s missing barque Loch Lomond. The vessel arrived at the Bluff on Saturday morning, and after coaling was to sail for the islands mentioned. The search should occupy about a couple of davs. »

The Green Island lignite industry is likely to receive a great impetus by a scheme formulated by the local collieries to erect a powerful electrical plant on the coalfield, which will supply the mining companies and kindred industries around Dunedin with power (says the Taieri “ Advocate.”) It is proposed to utilise the slack hitherto buried as waste to generate the power.

At the criminal sessions of the Napier Supreme Court, which opened yesterday, the Grand Jury found a true bill in each of the cases brought before them. J. Brough, charged with assaulting Michael Wallace at Mohaka and with escaping from legal custody, was found not guilty on the first charge and guilty on the second. The passing of sentence was deferred. The hearing of the charge against Charles Tipping of assaulting Johanna Smith, at Hastings, was commenced.
