NAPIER NOTES.

(from our own correspondent.) Ninety-six sections were offered for lease by Messrs G. B, Hoadley and Son for the Napier Harbour Board, comprising town and suburban sections. There was an excellent attendance and good business resulted. Fifty-eight of the leases were of land in the newly drained portion of the city, Napier South. An “at home” was given by the girls of St. Paul’s Recreation Club, when the Rev. J. A. Asher presided. ®l)umb-bell, Sandow ' exercises, and club-swinging items were followed by songs and a chorus by the society, and the \Rev. Asher gave a reading. The final meeting of the Napier / campaign of the London MissionSociety was held in the Con- . gregational Church on Thursday evening. Addresses were given by members illustrative of the work carried on in various parts of the world. Major Halpin, who has been -connected with the 3rd Battalion, resigned his office at the parade meeting on Wednesday. At the conclusion of a complimentary concert in the Working Men’s Club, a presentation was made to Mr A. E. Renouf by the Frivolity Minstrels and Napier Dramatic Students, in view of his approaching marriage. The presentation from the Frivolity Minstrels, which ■was made by the Mayor, took the form of a handsome marble clock. Mr Fraser, M.P., also handed Mr Renouf a silver tea and coffee service, subscrifredfor by the members of the Dramatic Club, while Mr G. I. Clarke, on be-half of the Working Men’s Club, handed him a set of carvers and a liqueur stand. Mr Renouf made a clever and sparkling speech of thanks for the presents.
