WANSTEAD NOTES.

o The recent fine weather has made the roads about this district hard and dry, and they are now in good order for vehicular traffic, though it will be a year or so before the loose metal and rougher parts of the road are worn down sufficiently to make a good cycle track. A pretty sight was seen recently. In a bend of the road a large flock of sheep were gathered and had spread up the steep side .of the road and down into the dip on the oppposite side of the track, in the shape of a double triangle. From a distance they looked like hundreds of mushrooms, thickly clustered in one big patch. The new tenants, of the recently subdivided Motutaraia estate are losing no time in getting their places in order and some have already commenced fencing. Mr S. Nutt, who has lately bought a farm here, is having his house renovated. Mr Nutt comes from near Little River, Canterbury, where he was engaged in farming with his two brothers.
