GERMAN TACTICS.
Referring to the strange entrance of a German torpedoer into the Tvne during' naval manoeuvres on Friday, the “Feilding Star ” says the series of such strange instances of late lias been simply remarkable, and all the more so as Germany is the only nation that has experienced such happenings. Of course no one would suggest that the keen anxiety that German naval authorities have evinced in Britain’s naval policy and organisation has had anything to do with such things. But it is curious that within a period of only a few weeks the Kaiser should unexpectedly appear on the horizon and steam down the lines when Admiral Beresford’s fleet was manoeuvring in the North Sea, that a German gunboat subsequently hung on the edge of our North Sea fleet, and that now a torpedo boat should break down in the Tyne when the Channel fleet was at work I Also, Commander Hert zer’s reply to the British officers who boarded his boat was ambiguous. No doubt he was sorry he could not see the conclusion of the manoeuvres.
