INVALID STUDENT’S TRIUMPH.
— A little romance in connection with the Cambridge University examinations came to light when the results of the Natural Science tripos were announced. Among those who sat for Part 11. in this examination was Mr Dan Joor James, a prominent Welsh student, who last__ year gained a first-class in Part I. Before the examination was completed Mr James contracted an infectious disease, and it was feared he would not be able to sit, but as a “ double first” will probably assist him very materially -in his career, his medical advisers saw the examiners, and special arrangements were made for him. He was conveyed to the school in a motor-car, and was put in a room by himself, with a nurse in attendance. Stimulants were administered at frequent intervals, and at the conclusion of the examination the patient was taken back to bed. He was rewarded by again taking a first-class. Mr James was at the University College, Aberystwith, before entering Sidney College as an exhibitioner. The exhibition has since been increased to a scholarship.
