The Press. Published Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Tuesday, August 25, 1908. THE SPREAD OF INFECTION.

There is a good deal of sickness about at present, especially among children, and if behoves the Town Board to see that infectious cases are attended to without delav, and V ' if possible to trace the source of infection, so that the cause of the evil may be removed. Householders should be careful, too, to call in medical advice as soon as suspicious symptoms appear in their families and thus stop the spread of infection as much as possible. We believe that some children who have suffered from infectious disorders have been permitted to move about among others too soon. This should be carefully guarded against, as they seriously menace the health of those with whom they come in contact. Even if some persons only have a slight attack of some infectious ailment, they may infect others with whom the disease may take a .much more

serious form. The School Committee, we understand, have been inquiring into the cases of sickness which have occurred during the last few days with a view to closing the\ school should there be any great increase in the number. It is to be hoped such a step will not be necessary, but, at the same time, every care should be taken, to prevent, if possible, any disease becoming epidemic. We do not wish to create needless alarm, and we do not think that at present there is cause for great anxiety, pr -but we hope parents will co-oper-,Z ate with the authorities in their efforts to stay the spread 'of infection.
