A STOLEN ELIDE.

Robert Flynn and Ann Farrelly have been the victims of an extraordinary boycotting outrage in Roscommon. Their friends and relations have now allowed them to be reunited, and they have just been manied according to the rites of the Catholic Church. Three months ago Flynn, despite his relations who desired him to marry someone else wedded Ann Farrelly in a registry office. On the same evening she was abducted by masked men. and since that day Flynn has not been allowed .to see her. This was by way of penance for flouting the rules of the Church. But his punishment excited the pity of a number of neighbours, and between his friends and the opposing faction a violent feud has raged for weeks. The Parish priest at length decided that Flynn had endured enough, and amid scenes of wildest enthusiasm and the renewal of broken friendships the

couple have been united At the festivities following the wedding, numbers of what are known in that part of Ireland as “ straw boys ” —men in disguise—attended. These licensed jesters ate and drank all they could lay their hands on, kissed the bride, and finally, lighting a huge bon-fire, danced around it. It is said that the other girl whom Flynn was to have married is taking an action for breach of promise.
