At Wednesday’s meeting of the Waipawa County Council, Councillor Merriken moved, having given previous notice, “ that the county roads in the Waipukurau town district be vested in the Waipukurau Town Board, and that a grant be given the Board for the maintenance of the said roads.” Councillor Merriken spoke strongly in favor of his motion, but the council being evidently averse to his proposal, he amended his motion to read, “ vesting the control of these roads in the Waipukurau Town Board,” and deleted the provision of a grant for maintenance, —The amendment was put and carried.
