Setters’ Social.

The above, held on Wednesday night at the Town Hall, passed off very successfully, the attendance being large and including visitors from all parts of the surrounding district. The hall had been tastefully decorated. Messrs F. Bailey, McCormick, and Blom ably acted as M.sC. On behalf of the guests Mr Merriken thanked the hosts. Prime refreshments were provided by the ladies’ committee. Mr Chambers was the energetic secretary.

Press: Some think the social should be postponed. Secretary: It was impossible to do so without disappointing a lot of people —there was insufficient time to let people know. If Mr Seddon were here, he’d be the first to say, “ Go on with it.” Press: You’re right!
