St. Andrews' Sunday School.

The social and concert held on Friday evening was largely attended by children and parents, a very pleasant time being spent. Rev J. A programme of splendid items by the children and adults was gone through,as follows: —Instrumental selection, M r and Masters Nicholson; “song, “Jingle Bells,” by 14 girls; “ Jing-a-ring,” eight little ones; song, “ Sweet and low,” Maud McKenzie ; “ It’s no joke to be a baby,” six little girls ; song and chorus, “ Catch the sunshine,” senior pupils ; “ “ The multiplication table,” Bertha Chambers; song, “ Under the sea,” 14 girls ; recitation, Mr 81.B 1 . Gay- Some of the items were redemanded, being of exceptional merit. After an interval, during which refreshments provided by the ladies were handed round, there was a reciting contest, in which Ruby Scott, Dorothy Hopkirk, C. McCormick, and F. Logan took part. All being very good, it i AVas decided to award each a prize. jwMrs McKenzie sang “The Holy 'City,” and another humorous recitation was given by Mr Gay. Mr Cooke “ brought down the house” with a quaint song, and was loudly encored. The following were ac-

companists to the different items : Cooke, Merrylees, and Lucy 'Grosvenor. In proposing votes of thanks for assistance rendered, appreciative remarks were made by Messrs Jones, Merrylees and B.trrie, special mention being of the way Miss Murray had trained the children for the action songs, and the ladies for providing refreshments The superintendent (Mr Barrie) said the proceeds of the entertainment would enable the committee to add a good number of new books to the Sunday school library.
