In New South Wales an Afghan committed suicide in a novel way. He made a fire in a paddock and vaulted into it with a pole. Each of Sir Julius Vogel’s children have been left a fortune by the death in Loudon of Mr B. Isaac, merchant. During the fire in San Francisco a menagerie broke loose- The frantic animals, roaring terribly, created a panic in the neighbourhood until shot or burnt.
