Lighting the Town.
—o BOARD ADOPTS LIGHTING. MEETING OF RATEPAYERS TO BE HELD. At the Town Board meeting last evening, the question of lighting the town was further dealt with. Offers were received from Willoughby & Co. (Kitson light), the Heat and Light Supply Co. (acetylene), and the Napier Plumbers Co (acetylene). The question was discussed at some length by members, who seemed agreed that for street lighting the Kitson light would be most suitable; while for general and domestic purposes acetylene would be the better. However, the question of what light shall be adopted was left open. The chairman very lucidly explained the regulations bearing on the matter of loans in connection with such proposals? Com’r Bailey moved, and Com’r Gore seconded, That the necessary preliminary steps be taken to raise a loan of £3OO for town lighting.— Carried unanimously. [Further particulars in reference to this subject will appear in next issue.]
