WAIPUKURAU CLUB. The annual meeting of the Waipukurau United Football Club was held in the Tavistock Hotel on I Tuesday evening, when there were about forty members present. Mr W. H. Booth was voted the chair. The annual report showed that the club was in a fair position. There were 64 members during the season, as against 39 in the previous one. The sum of £l9 5s 6d was collected in subscriptions. Great interest had been taken in the game, and enthusiasm was very keen, esneeially among the third grade players. The first fifteen were runners-up for the Hunter shield, and the third fifteen had won the cup presented by Mr George Hunter. The balance-sheet showed a debit balance of 4s 6d and 12s 6d liabilities. A large amount of the receipts had been used by the gymnasium, which it was decided t<3 discontinue as unprofitable. It was resolved that, with the exception of captains of fifteens, no playing member be a member of the match committee. Mr G. H. Graham resigned his position as secretary. The resignation was accepted with regret, Mr Chambers and other members eulogising the services rendered to the club by the late secretary. Ellison ; auditor, Mr Ashley ; committee, Messrs Booth, G. Lomas, F. Bailey, W. A. Chambers and D. Milne (re-elected) ; match committee, Messrs Booth, Lomas, F. Bailey, W. Chambers and D. Milne ; delegates to sub - union, Messrs Lomas aud Bailey. v The subscription was fixed at ss, Juniors 2s 6d, members tickets to admit to club matches. The opening match for the season is to be played next Wednesday. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee to endeavour to arrange for a return match at Porangahau during the season. Twelve new members were elected. The advisability of forming a separate Hawke’s Bay Union was spoken of, several members deprecating the treatment meted out to the sub-unions. No action, however, was taken. Waipawa will have three teams during the coming season. Racasig Paritutu won the Taranaki Cup, Star Rose second. Scenery won the Hack Handicap at Masterton, Aeolus second Divs, £3 7s aud £2 10s. Douche won the "Waipipi Cup Handicap, Roseal second Divs. £2 10s and £2 6s Convoy won theTimaru Cup, Beau Seaton second Divs., £1 18s and £2 10s. Cricket The match between the Waipukurau A team and Norsewood resulted in a win for Waipuk by four wickets after an exciting game. The total scores were —Norsewood 54 and 31, Waipukurau 29 and 57 for six wickets (Wilder 10, Wilson 37 not out). For Waipukurau, Absolum took eight wickets for 19, Chambers seven for 17, Sharpin one for 20. Waipukurau wins the banner.
