—o OBJECTION BY LOCAL BODIES. Waipawa Town Board -and business people met on Saturday to protest against the proposed discontinuance of the mid-day train, and it was resolved to urge the Minister to continue the train, and that Mr Hall, M.H.R., be asked to use his influence in that direction. A special meeting of the Waipukurau Town Board was held last night. Present — Commissioners Chambers (chairman), Mitchell, ■Williams, Bailey, Seymour, Gore, Staine.-. The object ot the meeting was to consider the proposed withdrawal of the trains which leave Napier at 11.20 a.m. and Waipukurau at 2.50 pin. The chairman said a number of local bodies had held meetings to protest against the proposed stoppage of this train, and he had deemed it advisable to call the members together to give the board an opportunity of considering the matter. Personally, he though the train a great convenience, and its ceasing to run would be a disadvantage to the community, who had found it very handv. He would rather see one of the other trains stopped than the one under notice. He moved. That this board write the ActingMinister of Railways, through the member for the district, protesting strongly against the proposed suspension, and pointing out that the train has proved itself to be a great convenience to the public generally, and urging that the service be continued. Mr Seymour seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously.
