BOWLING
—o — A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a Bowling Club was held at the Town Hall last night. About twenty attended, and Mr P. Brrrie occupied the chair. Mr Barrie, as convenor, explained the object of the meeting. He spoke in appreciation of the game, and thought the time had come when the place could well support a club. Mr Gow spoke in favour of the formation of a club. He had been informed that a green could be prepared for £lOO, though some thought it would cost more. Mr R. Coneys said he had got au expert estimate of £lOO. He was prepared to give a suitable ground f ree _the club to pay Is rent in order to have a claim on it. He suggested that a committee be appointed to canvass for members ; subscriptions to be not less than a guinea each; and that a public meeting be held a fortnight hence, at which the committee report progress. . The suggestions were agreed to, and the following were appointed a canvassing committee: MessrsM. J. Bailey, Coneys, Lomas, Milne, Nicholson, Smart, Gow, P. Barrie, Annand. Another meeting in connection with the project will be held on Thursday, 22nd inst.
