Ellwood Pictures and Musical Family.

—0 — TO-MORROW NIGHT. The pictures to be submitted by the above company at the Town Hall to-morrow evening, in conjunction with the musical portion of the programme, are entirely new to this district, and should prove a great attraction. The beautiful subjects, obtained at much cost, makes one wonder what limits could be set to I he cinematographic art. “ A chase for a husband ” — showing a mad flight thro’ hill and dale and the ultimate capture by speedy and anxious ladies —is one of the most popular pictures shown. “ Driven from home,” a very dramatic subject in several scenes, and “No bathing allowed” always secure a large percentage of applause. The Ellwood Family contribute a delightful little concert, consisting of gems of musical art, vocal aud instrumental items, also illustrated songs by Miss Polly Ellwood. The whole programme should be a very enjoyable one. The pictures are stated to be the best ever toured through New Zealand, and the concert fare provided by the singers and instrumentalists exceptionally good.—The humorous pictures, for which there is always a great demand, sets the audience in a good humor at once, and the varied programme given by the company give ample opportunity for one and all to be pleased. —Beautiful scenery, colored subjects, pathetic and humorous, are all well represented, making a very unique entertainment of Music, Song, Story aud Picture. Extract from Dannevirke Advocate, January 13th, 1906 : —There is a great deal of interest attached to the Ellwood Family, who are about to commence a flying tour through New Zealand prior to the departure of Master Harry Ellwood aged 12 years, to England and the Continent to take up his studies 7 of. the violin under one of the best masters. During the recent visit Herr Hugo Heermann (the worldfamed violinist) to New Zealand,. Master Harry Ellwood was favoured by an interview with this master of the violin, and after playing many selections, and iu a duet, Herr Heermann was greatly impressed with the fine execution well developed tone, and the masterly manner in which Master Harry handled the instrument, and stated that, given the opportunity, the lad would develope into a player of repute (vide N.Z. Times, October 10, 1905). The other members of the family are Miss Polly Ellwood, aged 10 years, and Master George Ellwood, aged 8 years. The former has the advantage of being doubly gifted, a vocalist in addition tobeing a violinist, she being thepossessor of a fine soprano voice,, and renders ballads in a very pleasing manner. Las\ but not leasts is Master George Ellwood, a little tot no bigger than the ’cello heplays. This lad promises to make a name for himself in the near future. In addition to the musical portion of the programme,, a splendid selection of animated pictures are shown by means of the very latest picture machine, “ The Chrono,” which is credited with being the only machine that took a special prize at the St. Louis Exposition last year. The entertainment will be given at Waipukurau to-morrow night.
