Peer From the Bush.

Claims to be Duke of Richmond and Gordon. James Mailer, who for 30 years remained in the Australian bush, has just returned to the Mother* ' country to prove that he is the Duke of Richmond and Gordon. When a Morning Leader man called at his lodging in Glasgow, he said he had a perfect budget of documents relating to his claim, which he is positive he will establish. “My claim is solely one - of lineage,” he says, “and my documents make the whole thing clear.” Mr Mailer has already communicated with the Secretary for Scotland, who has replied that it is the courts of law and not the Crown who must decide the point. Mr Mailer holds that legal men in Australia, London, and Glasgow have given identical opinions as to the soundness of his claim. He has enlisted the good offices of the Glasgow members to support his claim in the House of Commons.

Georges and Marzo, the youths who were arrested in connection with the murder of M. Durel in a tunnel near Virien-le-grand, and the robbery of a large amount of st entities, have confessed —Georges to stunning M. Durel, and Marzo to stabbing him with a dagger.
