Members of the Waipukurau Cricket Club held a meeting at the Tavistock -Hotel on Wednesday evening, there being present— Messrs Chambers, G. Lomas, Pirie, Ellison, Wilson, F. Bailey (sec.), Seymour, Bogle, Speedy, Sharpin, G. Lomas jun., and Annand. Mr Lomas sen. was voted to the chair. Mr Smith wrote wanting to know if members who had not paid their subscription were ineligible to play. If such a rule existed he he thought it should be enforced. The chairman and other members agreed that all subs, ought to be paid promptly. Resolved (Chambers—Seymour), that it be an instruction to the selection committee to pick no member whose subscripiion is not paid. A discussion took place on the subject of a member playing for more than one team. The secretary said that usually a memberhad been allowed to play for A or B team three times at intervals or twice consecutively. The question evoked discussion , some members not approving of the method, but there appeared to be no by-law bearing on it. Mr Chambers moved, and Mr Ellison seconded, That the secretary write the secretary of the association asking him for definite ruling re members playing for the A and B teams ; in the e\ ent of it being found that a member cannot play for more than one team, that a notice of motion be made to the association to amend the by-laws in the direction of giving effect to the suggestion made by the secretary of the association, —Carried. Havelock Club wrote offering to play a match at Waipukurau on any Saturday. —Resolved to accept challenge for 20th inst. Resolved (Chambers —Pirie) that the secretary arrange matches with Hastings and Napier clubs. A member thought the B team should be represented on the selecsion committee. It was agreed to try and strengthen the bowling of that team. Air Bailey tendered his resignation as secretary of the club. He found he could not spare the time to attend to the duties as he would wish. Mr Bailey was pressed to hold the position for the remainder of the season, and eventually consented to do so. It was decided that two men be appointed to look after the material of the teams, and that arrange?ments be made for keeping the ground in good condition.
