SHOP-WINDOW ADVERTISING.

[To the Editor.] Sir,—Now that we have a newspaper printed in the township, I think it is up to business people to politely refuse to place notices of a public nature in their windows. Of course that system was right enough in the ante-local paper days, but now that we have an additional business that opposes no other local business, but is a good thing for' the place, I think it should receive the best support the residents can give it.—Yours, etc., Live and Let Live. [We may here mention that, as regards advertising in the post office (a common practice in many country offices), Sir Joseph Ward, Pbstmaster-General, some time ago issued instructions that no announcements except Government notifications were to be placed in post offices in towns where registered newspapers exist. We thank our correspondent for the hint he conveys, and trust it will be acteci upon.— Ed.]
