The bank had satisfactorily disposed of a few of tho old assets taken under the heading of the Bank of New Zealand Estate Company's assets, in liquidation, and since dosing the books on 31st March last this account had bcon roducod by 1111,000, the balance at September standing at £82,000. In 1897 this item stood at £580,065, Fiyo thousand forfeited shares had been disposed of by tender at £5 Bs, yielding £IOOO for addition to tho reserve fund. In conseqticnco of tho satisfactory result, tenders had boon invited for three thousand more.
