On Saturday next tho members of the No. 3 G.R.V. will coinpoto lor tho first of a scries ot matches for tho handsome silver (lowor bowl presented by Mr J. Livesey, and a sot of carvers presontod by an Auckland merchant. Tho match will, bo fired over a class-firing course, Fourteen shots will bo fired at 200 yards at head and shoulders (argots, 7 being from behind covor with a Bscc. exposure of tho firer, and 7 maganino indeprndont with a timo limit of 45sec, each hit on target to count 2 points. Fourteen shois will be fired ai 500 yards at nil oidinary socoud class targo s with a three foot vertical black band, The con* ditions are tho same as st 500, except tha' tho timo limit is extended to 6 second- and CO seconds. Each hit, on black band will count 2 points; on ?thor parts of the target 1 point. If timo permits on Saturday afternoon 10 shots (tniujnzino vo'ley?) al sectional targets at 000 yards will bo included in tho competition, volleys to bo fired by squids picked from tho half companies present on tho rango in tho alternoon.

It is necessary that overy member of tho company who can possibly attend should shoot at this competition, as it will not only count for iho trophies but also includes the class firing which it is necessaiy that every man should go through before tho end of tho voluntcor yoar in ordor to capita'o. Men who do not shoot on Saturday will havo to go ovor the same courso nnothor day.
