Later details received by the telegraph office state that praotioally tho whole town is burned down. The fire started in Stallard's bakehouse. Telegraphic coinmmuuieatlon was interrupted owing to the dostruotion of the Post and Telegraph Offioe. A temporary offioe was opened at Papv para, whence special messengers ran to the scene of the conflagration. Later, Tha fire broke out in Stallard's bakery. A Bkong westerly wind was blowing, and it was soon apparent that all the business part of the township wns doomed. The flames crossed the street, destroy" in; amongst other places the post offioe and Pinkerton's and Passing's Hoteh, • Three hours later heavy rain set in. but this had no effect on the fire. It merely spoilod what goods had been saved. Twenty business places were destroyed, amongst them being the Public Hall and Argus office. The town is a blackened heap of ruins.
