Somo of tho provisions of tho Bill wore at variance with tho Treaty of Waitingi, and ho questioned tho right of tho Government to take over tho entire control of tho lands of natives. Ho would not object to tho rating of tho land if Iho natives were givon power to deal with the lands themselves.
Mr. Harris suggested that as thoro was an indecision as to what tho Bill ought lo contain the Attorney-General better havo another talk over tho mutter with his colleagues and bring tho Bill in again.
