Large Meeting of Voluntas A large and representative mealing ot volunteers was hold in I'ncrou on Siilinv. day evening List. Tho chairman, Major Kenrck, explained that tho object of the meeting was to form a Itillo Association for tho country. A communication from Colonel Davis, setting forth the conditions under which an allocation of £OO from tho Government (jrimt would bo nim'e in the : Association if formed, was read, On the motion ol Captain Lo L'ovre, seconded by (Jitptain Jackson it was re* solvotl that a country association, lo be called the South Auckland Uillo Association, be formed. t this stago of tho proceedings Lieu-tenant-Colonel Porrit mivod, and occupied the chair in place of llajor Konriok. Tho following officers wore appointed; —Patron, Colonel Davis; president, Lieutenant Colonel Porrit; vice presidents, staff officers of battnlicns and officers ot companies in battalions south of Auckland, Major Lucas, Mr Moss, M,H,U., Honorary Col. Kenny, Mr McGowau, M.H.R., Mr Hcrries, M'.H.R,, H. P. Barry, H. Polund, Mr Kirkbride, M.H.R., Capt. Adams, Craufnrd Brown, F. H, Mueller, Chas, Rhodes, W. S. Alien, W. Moore, A. Prico, Mayor ol To Aroha (A. .1. Parmer), Mayor of Wnilii |T. Gilmour), Mayor of Cambridge IT, Wills), Mayor of Hamilton (W, Day), W. Lynch. Mr Lang, M.U.R, It was proposed by Captain Jackson, soconded by Lieutenant Ready, that tho commit oo lmn power to mid to the abovo numbc.'as desired. Carried.
It was proposed by Captain Lo Pevrr, seconded by Lieutenant Ready that tho Association's first meeting bo held at To Aroha, <md that in the event of its boing impossib'e to hold the meeting at To Aroha, it bo he'd at Puernu. Carrie.il. Tho nianagoiuei !■ committee were elected as follows; Major Kcnrick(WniH), Captain Hubbard (lVrn.i). Lieutenant Allen (To Aroha), Servant Shaw (Pacroi). Sergeant Maingay (Te Aroha), Sergwut Crosbio (Tlßines), Mr, T Gavin (Te Aroha Riilo Club).
It was resolved that tho firs', metliiig bo hold on January 80th and 31st, Mr. F. W. Wylde, of Te Aroha, was appointed secretary and Lieutenant Colonel Porritt lion, treasurer.
In tho cturso of the proceedings Captain Jackson referred to ficrgoant Shaw, who was so seriously injured by a powder explosion accident sonio f?w months back by which his eyosight was endangered. Ho said that no was glad to see him on the range that afternoon. It was a relieve to shooting men when they learned that the injuries to his ayes had healed r.nd that his sight was not impaired, In expressing plcnsuro at Sergeant Shaw's recovery ho iclt snro ho was voicing the sciitiments of the members of his (tho No. 3 Ohincumri) Company.
