It is astonishing how soon tho young lady's qualifications for the ollico developed whon tho salary was raised to two povnds por wesk, What has tho present librarian done that he should bo dismins6il ? It is wrong that a fow wirepullers should havo the power to commit such an injustice, and 1 hopo to see tho electors raise such a protest that tho Council will bo deterred from pnrpotrating such a stupid blunder as appointing a female. Wo don't want fcninloa competing with us, and a male librarian iB in every way more suitable for the office. It seems to nib tho solo objoct of some of tho councillors is providing billets torolcc* tioneoring friends, It is a caso of you scratch my back, etc, Hoping that tho clictors will give cvory attention to these gentlemen at next electicti,-I am, etc. Arms, ■
